Dr. Harsha Basappa is an Interventional Cardiologist, currently working as an Associate Professor of Cardiology at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research, Mysore, which is a tertiary care Institute run by the Government of Karnataka, in Bangalore and Mysore. Dr. Basappa also consults at Chitra's Hospital (Irwin Road), on weekday evenings.

Dr. Basappa has worked in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit Sri Jayadeva Institute and performed various emergency bedside procedures including Temporary Pacemaker Insertion, Insertion of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Trans-thoracic and Trans-esophageal Echo in critically ill patients and Pericardiocentesis. In the Cardiac Catheterisation laboratory he has independently performed over 3,000 Coronary Angiograms, and over 600 Coronary Angioplasties including opening of Chronic Total Occlusions, Primary Angioplasties, Graft Vessel and Multivessel Coronary Artery Stenting. He has done about 200 Coronary Angiograms in the Mobile Catheterisation Laboratory, the first in Asia, at various rural centres around Bangalore city. He is experienced in all non-invasive cardiac diagnostics as well.

Dr. Basappa did his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore and MD in General Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He then did a Fellowship in Adult Cardiology at Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, Madras Medical Mission, Chennai. Dr. Basappa then worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at JSS Medical College, Mysore. Dr. Basappa further did the Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) - Cardiology Training from Vivus Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Heart Centre, Bangalore.

Dr. Harsha Basappa is actively involved in clinical research. He has also published a number of papers in National and International Medical Journals.
